GEORGIA, Vt. ( WCAX /Gray News) - Authorities in Vermont said two people have been arrested after their children tested positive for having illegal substances in their systems.
The couple were arrested during a routine check at the Park and Ride in Georgia, Vermont.
A Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy saw a truck with its lights on. Inside the truck were a couple and their three children.
The couple was identified as Jena Mays and Travis Dashnow. They told the deputy they were there to gather items from their truck, which was inoperable due to a crash.
Deputies said they found drug paraphernalia and evidence of crack cocaine in the vehicle within reach of the children.
Officials later tested the kids and found crack cocaine in their systems.
