A Long Island boat broker is in hot water with authorities for allegedly scamming clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Roy P. Hogan, 60, is facing grand larceny and other charges after allegedly selling his clients’ boats and keeping the money for himself.
Between Oct. 20, 2023 and April 7, 2025, Hogan, who owns Riteway Marine Solutions in Babylon, reportedly told more than ten customers for months that he hadn’t sold their boats.
In reality, Suffolk County prosecutors said Hogan had sold the vessels and was using the profits for his own personal expenses instead of paying the original owners.
He is also accused of knowingly issuing checks to customers and vendors from closed or insufficiently funded accounts between Aug. 13, 2024 and April 4, 2025.
