For more than two years the crimes of Erin Patterson have drawn much attention to the South Gippsland towns of Leongatha and Korumburra.

Now, after Patterson's sentencing for poisoning four of her husband's relatives with a mushroom dish at her Leongatha home, residents say they would like to move on.

On Monday Justice Christopher Beale handed Patterson a life sentence with a 33-year non-parole period for the murder of her parents-in-law and another relative, as well as 25 years for the attempted murder of another.

The sentences will be served concurrently.

For many in Gippsland it was the end of a tragic chapter for the community.

South Gippsland Shire Mayor John Schelling said locals were fatigued by the intense coverage of the case.
