LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - A deadly trend is continuing in western Leon County.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are still searching for the driver who left the scene after striking and killing a pedestrian on Blountstown Highway near Jay Bird Lane Saturday night.
The pedestrian, a 47-year-old Tallahassee man, is now the second person to be killed along the roadway this summer.
Saturday’s hit-and-run sparked a familiar discussion for neighbors who feel like the highway could be safer. One woman who lives nearby, Rebekah Turpin, drives along Highway 20 every day.
“Driving down Highway 20 is crazy. There are a lot of crazy drivers, people speed, people ride your bumper. And I think what should happen on Highway 20 is getting even more street lights,” she said.
