OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Over the past couple of months, Horinga has been helping the opposition to Key Capture Energy's plan to build a battery energy storage system near her Blendon Township farm.
"We had some signs made, so that we can get the word out. We've done a really good job, we're on our second order already," said Horinga.
"Where it's going to go is just beyond our barns in the wooded area. Back there, our farmlands will surround it," said Horinga.
Blendon Township Supervisor Don Vander Kuyl declined to do an on-camera interview, but he did say the plan is for the storage facility to capture power during the evening and store it for future use.
As for why the project concerns Horinga, she says she worries about her farm.
