SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- The U.S. Department of Justice plans to announce criminal charges on Tuesday as a result of the immigration raid last week at a Cayuga County food processing plant, the office of Acting U.S. Attorney John Sarcone said late Monday.
In its announcement, the Justice Department said it will "warn employers across the Northern District of New York that they risk criminal investigation if they are employing non-citizens who are not authorized to work in the United States."
More than 40 workers were detained after officers stormed into Nutrition Bar Confectioners in Cato.
"They were just rounding up everyone that looked Hispanic," said immigration attorney Jose Perez.
