San Diego State’s men’s basketball team released its schedule on Monday. They have six non-conference home games, which is nice. But, this year there’s no big-time program like Gonzaga coming to Viejas Arena.

That is not due to a lack of trying.

“You have to find someone that wants to come here,” says head coach Brian Dutcher. “The success we’ve had, people don’t want to come to Viejas and play us.”

Dutcher says they tried to set up a home-and-home against a major program but didn’t have any takers this year, so their top early season games will be played at tournaments on neutral floors, like meeting Michigan and Oregon in Las Vegas in November.

But the Aztecs did find a way to get a blue blood to come to Montezuma Mesa.
