Alberta has made a slate of revisions to its provincewide standard to now explicitly state that only books containing visual depictions of sexual content will be barred from school libraries.

Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides unveiled the new standards on Monday after rescheduling the announcement on Friday. His office said they were taking the necessary time to get the new order right. The changes come after the Edmonton Public School Board announced it was pulling 200 books from its shelves based on guidelines from the first order announced in July , which led to criticism across Canada.
