Australian entrepreneur Dick Smith has issued a stark warning about the dangers of failing to manage population growth, saying neither major party has introduced a plan in more than a decade.
Mr Smith told Sky News host Chris Kenny “not one political party has introduced a population plan”, before claiming both sides of politics had relied on migration to boost growth..
“Staggering immigration is a great way of getting growth,” he said.
“Our capitalist system, which I’ve benefited out of pretty well, requires perpetual growth. You can do it by becoming more productive, which is hard work for the bosses, or you can just bring more and more people in and that is what we have been doing.”
