The rise of the digital age has also come with the rise of modern scams, and the number of scams both locally and nationally keeps increasing.
On Monday, FBI officials and Millcreek Township Police came to discuss these trends at the municipal building on West 26th Street, saying scams can take multiple different forms.
"I get seniors coming in with the toll scams, that are being bombarded nonstop with the tolls. They get the utility bill scams, said Ben Bastow, Millcreek Township Police Officer. "We've seen a lot of the sextortion scams, where they're targeting the teens now, trying to get them to send photos that they normally wouldn't send."
