Surveillance video showing the stabbing of a 23-year-old woman on the Charlotte light rail drew quick reaction from state and national figures, including the president, governor and Elon Musk.
The Charlotte Area Transit System released surveillance video Friday of the night Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian refugee, was fatally stabbed while riding the light rail.
Zarutska had just left her job at Zepeddie's Pizza in Charlotte's busy South End neighborhood.
"Our Zepeddie’s family suffered a tremendous loss. We lost not only an incredible employee, but a true friend. Our dear Iryna left this world far too soon, and our hearts are heavy with grief," the restaurant's representatives said on Instagram .
