COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) - The Council Bluffs Police Department has released their figures from a citywide traffic initiative for Labor Day weekend.

CBPD says they issued 269 citations and warnings in an operation focused on speed and drunk driving.

The report says there were four drunk drivers taken off the streets as part of the initiative.

According to CBPD, 45 people died on roadways in Iowa in 2024, and 30% of those fatalities were caused by impaired driving.

CBPD says there will be more of these projects in the coming weeks. The Iowa State Patrol and Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the operation.
