JOHNSON COUNTY, Texas — Acting Sheriff Ben Arriola assured Johnson County commissioners Monday that the sheriff's department remains focused on serving the community despite the indictment and arrest of Sheriff Adam King on sexual harassment and retaliation charges.

Captain Ben Arriola, now serving as acting sheriff, briefed commissioners for the first time since King placed himself on paid leave following his indictment on charges of abuse of office and two counts of retaliation against a witness.

"We have hundreds, not only our sworn personnel, but our non-sworn personnel," Acting Sheriff Arriola told commissioners. "They come into work every single day, they put forward their full faith and effort to serve the citizens of this county."
