Itasca-based supermarket chain Jewel-Osco has named Tom Lofland its new president. He started last week.
Lofland is a graduate of Portland State University who completed the University of Southern California Food Industry Management program.
A subsidiary of Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons, Jewel-Osco has about 190 stores, mostly in Chicagoland.
"We're very, very, very proud to be in the Illinois, Indiana and Iowa communities," Lofland said. "We look at our stores as being part of the community. We hire within the community. We provide jobs and a great place to shop. That's what's critical to us. That's the heartbeat of the store. We would like to think we play a role in being the heartbeat of the community."
