COLUMBIA, S.C. — The City of Columbia expects to move forward with a plan to modernize and maintain downtown parking decks.
Phase 1 of the plan will focus on four downtown decks: Lady Street, Taylor Street, Arsenal Hill, and Sumter Street.
The Lady Street Parking Deck, located at 1100 Lady Street, is first in line for renovations. Work will include repairing concrete damage, sealing cracks, installing new expansion joints, applying waterproof coatings, updating lighting and security cameras, and conducting deep cleaning and painting.
Assistant City Manager Henry Simons said in a statement the city is “taking proactive steps to strengthen and modernize its parking infrastructure."
The project is currently out for bid and will go before City Council for final approval in October.
