CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots may be harder to get for certain West Virginians this virus season due to new FDA requirements that limit access for people ages 5 to 64 who don't have high-risk underlying conditions.
The new policy has been put in place ahead of the Center for Disease Control's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices' ruling on the 2025-26 formulation of the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot.
"If you were to go to a pharmacy and you are under the age of 65 without a pre-existing condition, you would need a prescription at a pharmacy from your medical provider to get a COVID vaccine," said Chad Bundy, executive director of the Harrison-Clarksburg Health Department.
