WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — A Wilkes County deputy and another driver were hospitalized Sunday afternoon with non-life-threatening injuries following a head-on crash on NC 115 near Hunting Creek Road, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 3:55 p.m. when a northbound 2003 Ford F-150, driven by 47-year-old Darrell Dean Kilby of Millers Creek, crossed the centerline.
The truck sideswiped a southbound 2009 Ford F-250 hauling a boat, before colliding head-on with a southbound 2024 Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Deputy Erik Bueno-Medina.
Speece was not injured, troopers said.
The Wilkes County Sheriff's Office said Bueno-Medina was responding to a call when the crash occurred and was transported to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem w
