MADISON (WKOW) -- Starting this week, energy customers will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on proposed energy price increases for the next two years.
Alliant Energy, Madison Gas & Electric (MGE) and Xcel Energy will be raising their rates by about 10% in 2026-2027.
Alliant Energy will increase both its electric and natural gas rate by over 5% in 2026, followed by a similar increase in 2027.
MGE will also raise its rates by nearly 5% in 2026, followed by a smaller increase in 2027.
MGE says customers could see about a $7 increase in their electric bill per month and a $2 increase in their natural gas bill.
Tom Content with the Citizen Utility Board of Wisconsin says his organization fought to bring down those numbers.
"I think the concern is the stacking of increases ove
