CHICAGO ( 25News Now ) - On the day they open their 106th season of professional football with a new head coach, the Chicago Bears officially announced they are making the move to a new, indoor stadium in suburban Arlington Heights.
Bears President and CEO Kevin Warren said the team is building a fixed-roof stadium and a mixed-use development on the site of the former Arlington Park racetrack.
In a letter to Bears fans, Warren said no state tax dollars will be needed for construction, but he mentioned the team’s desire for property tax relief.
“We are partnering with political, labor, business, and community leaders across Illinois to develop a plan for property tax certainty and a fair contribution toward essential infrastructure that will benefit the entire community,” said Warren.
