The Seahawks got a brief glimpse of Nick Emmanwori's playmaking ability in Sunday's season opener, with the rookie safety shooting into the backfield early in the 49ers' opening drive to tackle running back Christian McCaffrey for a 2-yard loss.
Unfortunately for Emmanwori and the Seahawks, he injured his ankle on the play when teammate Leonard Williams fell into his leg. The hope after Sunday's game was that Emmanwori did not have the more serious high ankle sprain, but Monday brought word that that is indeed the injury, meaning a longer recovery.
"It is a high ankle for Nick," Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said. "Let's call it week-to-week at this point. If we make a move, it would be probably the next day or two, because we've got to decide whether or not to make a move on that front.
