Aaron Rodgers, a bargain at age 41?

He was Sunday. And in more ways than one.

In June, Rodgers didn’t have much financial leverage. He was coming off a so-so season, at best. The Jets had cut him. Most other teams were set at quarterback.

The Steelers, as a result, were able to sign him on the cheap. Which, in turn, helped them two other older starters in ultra-expensive cornerback Jalen Ramsey and pricey tight end Jonnu Smith, each 30.

There was a catch, though.

Could the trio of old dudes play well?

They did Sunday, assisting the Steelers’ 34-32 road victory over the Jets in the season opener.

While Rodgers’ four-touchdown, zero-turnover show made for a catchy narrative, the outcome could’ve been a lot different.
