ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Webster woman who defied the odds after receiving a double lung transplant as a toddler is preparing to undergo the same lifesaving surgery again — more than two decades later.
Amanda Caruso, now 26, shared on Facebook Monday that she had received the call doctors had found a lung donor match.
“I got the call this morning that they have found a match for me for lungs! We are headed down to Philly now,” Caruso wrote. “There’s a possibility it could be a dry run if the lungs are determined to not be of good enough quality but I will keep everyone updated!”
Later in the day, she posted another update: “Lungs are good to go! I’m in pre-op!”
Caruso spoke with News 8 WROC in October 2023 about her journey, which began when she developed lung issues at just six mont
