BETHALTO, Ill. (First Alert 4) - Since the brown water problems were first reported by First Alert 4, residents have wondered what is in their water and how much. That’s why some locals set out to have their own, independent, personally paid and accredited tests conducted.
The results of one of those tests has been shared with First Alert 4, conducted in August. The results, which were collected at a home in Bethalto, show a manganese amount of 6.47 mg/L. Residents tell reporters that Illinois standard is 1.0 for adults, and less than that for infants and children.
