Pittsburgh Steelers left tackle Broderick Jones struggled mightily against the New York Jets , who notched three sacks and four pressures against him. Jones’ struggles were a key reason the team ran eight screens and failed to push the ball down the field at all.

Former Steelers offensive lineman Trai Essex says there are a lot of things wrong with Jones’ technique, and even noted that he did not ‘look like he belonged in the NFL’ at points during the game.

“It’s his first start at LT. You want to give the kid some grace. And I will. But there are some SERIOUS issues with 77’s technique and general football smarts that should not be made at this point in his career. I am concerned. Hopefully time and reps will improve these issues,” Essex said.
