SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office reports an investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting on Monday.

Deputies said they were called to respond to Bridgeford Lane around 7:30 p.m. A person wielding a large kitchen knife confronted a deputy, which led to an officer-involved shooting.

The person wielding the knife was injured and taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment. The deputy was not injured, officials said.

The deputy was placed on administrative leave, and SLED has been asked to investigate.
