A Melbourne couple is $20 million richer after discovering their winning Powerball ticket had been sitting on their fridge door.
The grandparents from affluent Brighton in the city's south-east held one of four division one winning entries in Thursday night’s $80 million Powerball draw.
The ticket was not registered to The Lott Members Club, meaning officials were unable to reach out and the couple were left to stumble upon the result themselves.
“That’s insane. I’m in shock,” the wife told an official from The Lott.
“This is unbelievable. We had no idea, and this whole time the ticket was just sitting on our fridge. We’ve both been really busy, so we just forgot to check it.
