Victorian Opposition Leader Brad Battin has doubled down on his attack on the Labor Allan government’s handling of the state’s crime rate after being ejected from the state’s parliamentary chamber.

Mr Battin was suspended after an interruption during Question Time on Tuesday, with Speaker Maree Edwards telling him to leave the chamber for an hour, which then became an hour and a half, before the Speaker then officially named him.

“I will not tolerate this kind of disrespect to the Chair,” Ms Edwards had said, with Mr Battin saying to the Speaker as he left the chamber: “And you want to silence the opposition?”.
