The Government has responded to concerns raised about Universal Credit claimants. Liberal Democrat MP Wendy Chamberlain asked the Government about the on-going transition of some claimants onto the benefit. Those on several older benefits such as Jobseeker's Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance are being gradually moved to Universal Credit.
The DWP is sending letters to those who still need to transition. The letter urges people to apply for Universal Credit, as your old benefit payments will eventually stop. Ms Chamberlain said: "In North East Fife we are seeing a transition to Universal Credit that means that vulnerable constituents-often those with dyslexia or learning disabilities -are really struggling.
