LEHI — Construction begins Monday in Lehi on a project to reduce traffic at Pioneer Crossing.
According to the Utah Department of Transportation, Pioneer Crossing is one of those east-west choke points that gets clogged up with a lot of traffic, and it hopes adding Flex Lanes to the roadway will give drivers more space during rush hour.

Starting Monday, UDOT will build Flex Lanes on Pioneer Crossing between Interstate 15 and Redwood Road in Lehi.
These Flex Lanes will allow UDOT to change the travel direction for several lanes, based on traffic needs throughout the day. For Pioneer Crossing, traffic times are expected to improve by more than six minutes during rush hour, and handle 50% more traffic without widening the road.
