FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - An early education service in Fort Wayne’s Southeast side is worried about losing funding because nearly 100% of their students rely on Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) vouchers.
Angie Moellering, the CEO and President of Lutheran Social Services, says the state’s decision to reduce reimbursement rates on CCDF vouchers would affect them.
“That is our main revenue source at a center to pay for our staff, to pay for the building that we’re in, and supplies we use like diapers,” says Moellering.
The reimbursement rate is going down a certain percentage based on age:
Infants (0-12 months): 10% decrease
Toddlers (13-36 months): 10% decrease
Preschoolers (3-5 years): 15% decrease
