(KRON) — Multiple rescuers were honored in Santa Clara County Monday for saving a child’s life in Gilroy earlier this summer.

On July 5, authorities received a 911 call for a child drowning in an unincorporated area of Gilroy. Before paramedics arrived at the scene, a good Samaritan was able to give the child “life-saving” CPR, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

“As all made their way to the scene, Santa Clara County 911 Communications coached a bystander through life-saving CPR over the phone,” the Santa Clara County Fire Department said.

The child, Anthony Pettinari, was successfully revived and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Monday’s ceremony was held in honor of everyone involved in the rescue.
