Prosecutors have dropped charges against Hannah Thomas after the former Greens candidate was arrested by police during an anti-Israel protest in south-west Sydney just over two months ago.
Ms Thomas suffered a serious injury to her right eye when she was arrested at the protest picketing Belmore electroplating business SEC Plating on June 27.
The 35-year-old was later charged by police with hindering or resisting arrest, and refusing to comply with a direction to disperse.
However, the Department of Public Prosecutions asked for the charges to be dismissed when the case briefly returned to Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.
Ms Thomas, who ran against Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his electorate of Grayndler in the federal election, has now moved to launch civil action against NSW
