Surveillance video shows the moments a man was opening fire into the air before Miami Police shot and critically injured him in Liberty City on Monday.

The incident began around 6:45 a.m. when officers received a ShotSpotter alert in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 64th Street, Miami Police Chief Manny Morales said at a news conference.

They also received a 911 call that a man dressed in black and armed was walking southbound on 15th Avenue, opening fire, Morales said. Officers responded and at least one officer fired their weapon at the man, police said.

The video is blurred before the man, identified by family as Joseph Tilley, was shot and fell to the ground.
