Public broadcasting stations across the country are scrambling to hold onto the ground they have following Congress' unprecedented cuts earlier this year to public television funding.

But MontanaPBS isn't one of them. The statewide broadcaster might be the rare exception as it makes plans to expand.

The broadcaster intends to grow its Eastern Montana coverage with a goal of having their programming broadcasted to new communities by Christmas. This August, the Federal Communications Commission approved the nearly final transaction of three commercial television stations in Miles City, Sidney and Glendive.
