CHARLESTON, W.Va. –West Virginia Community and Technical College System Chancellor Dr. Sarah Armstrong Tucker says she is working to address the state’s low college-going rate and aims to simplify financial aid so that students can better understand it.

Tucker appeared before the Joint Standing Committee on Education Monday afternoon during the legislative interim meetings to present research her team has conducted on why students are not attending higher education institutions, an issue she says she frequently discusses due to its importance.

She said the current college-going rate in the state is 47.4%. This includes students attending two-year and four-year institutions, public or private, in-state or out-of-state
