WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The Wichita Public Schools Board of Education passed its 2025-26 budget on Monday.

The total budget, which amounts to $1,009,845,676, comprises an operating budget of $615 million and a flat mill levy rate of 51.387%. According to WPS, this is the lowest mill rate in 15 years.

Over 87% of the budget will directly support students, with close to 8% for facilities maintenance.

USD 259 highlights the following investments: • Additional funds for core services at 10 schools. • Additional behavior supports for six schools. • Expanded ESOL services at each school rather than transporting students to specific schools. • Unified Pre-K at four schools. • Investment in community schools strategies at Washington, Colvin, Anderson, Adams, Dodge, and Stanley. • Fun
