HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – People in Huntington will now be able to see how much the city spends -- and on what.

Mayor Patrick Farrell said the city has officially joined the state’s Open Checkbook program.

The program will allow people to view how the city uses money for things such as how user fees fund police and road paving, how federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars are invested, and where every tax dollar collected by the city is spent.

Mayor Farrell said this is a part of his focus to be transparent and build trust with taxpayers.
