BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - President Donald Trump announced plans for new federal guidance on prayer in America’s public schools , though he has not yet provided specific details on what the policy will look like.
In Alabama, some teachers say they welcome the possibility, as long as families are given the choice on whether their children participate.
Dodi Traylor, a teacher who supports the change, said she views prayer as a personal right that should not be restricted in schools. She emphasized that it should remain voluntary.
“We should be able to pray if that is what we do. In school we should be able to pray. If you have a different religion, you don’t believe in prayer, you don’t have to pray but we don’t have to force, we should not be able to force our kids to do things t
