Isolated storm chances will return to more of New Mexico starting Tuesday as the heat continues. Higher chances for rain will return to western, central, and northern New Mexico by Friday.

It is a quiet start to the week across New Mexico with a ridge of high pressure over the state. This caused fewer showers and storms Monday afternoon along with hotter temperatures. High temperatures climbed above average for this time of year. More showers and storms will pop up Tuesday afternoon across the mountains and drift east through the afternoon and evening. Rainfall totals will generally stay light as the summer-like heat continues. Another round of isolated to scattered showers and storms will return again Wednesday.
