NEW DELHI: Voting to elect India's 15th Vice-President has started. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to cast his vote. Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan is the NDA candidate and Justice B Sudarshan Reddy is INDIA bloc’s candidate.
Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Kiren Rijiju, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav have also cast their votes.
The voting is from 10 am to 5 pm in Room F-101 (Vasudha) of Parliament House. The counting of votes will begin at 6 pm. The vacancy arose after Jagdeep Dharkar resigned with two years remaining in the post of vice-president. Jagdeep Dhankar became the Vice President in 2022 by securing 528 votes.
