Owners tear down long-troubled homeless center, unclear on site’s future

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The owner of a long-troubled St. George building told the Advance/SILive.com that he’s unsure what’s next for the site after a full demolition last year.

Avery Gross, who public records identify as the owner of 25 Central Ave., said the building’s dilapidated conditions after more than a century standing made repair costs unfeasible.
