(WJW) — Drivers can expect a crackdown on drinking and driving this weekend in northeast Ohio.

According to a media release, the Summit County OVI Task Force will be conducting sobriety checkpoints across Summit County on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, into early Saturday morning, Sept. 13, 2025.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and local police departments routinely announce checkpoints as part of ongoing efforts to reduce alcohol-and drug-related crashes.

In 1990, the Supreme Court upheld the use of sobriety checkpoints as long as they meet certain guidelines, which include public notification.
