The Garnet Fire in California has grown significantly without an increase in containment, and its smoke is continuing to affect areas in Nevada.
The lightning-sparked fire in the Sierra National Forest has burned 54,925 acres -- an increase of 20,000 acres over three days -- and sits at 14% containment.
On Monday morning, there was not a lot of smoke visible in Gardnerville, but there was enough to leave a burning scent in the air.
Air quality levels in Gardnerville got up to moderate on Monday.
The town is just to the northwest of a region of hazardous air quality in Mineral and Lyon counties, according to AirNow's interactive map.
