BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said a murder suspect has pleaded guilty in a 2023 homicide investigation.

Officials said Javorie Ammon Thompson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and sentenced to 143-184 months in prison.

This comes after deputies said 25-year-old Jeruan William Spencer was found dead in a wooded area near McKinney Road on Aug. 10, 2023.

According to the sheriff’s office, Thompson was taken into custody six days later during a vehicle stop on I-40.

Officials mentioned that a second suspect was arrested in connection to this shooting. 24-year-old Erika Denise Frisby on May 6, 2025. She was also charged with second-degree murder.
