The Detroit Lions’ 2025 season opener was an afternoon to forget. The offense nearly went without a touchdown for the first time since 2022. The defense gave up 17 points on the first three possessions. And special teams was a mess for nearly the entire game.
Coach Dan Campbell insisted all of the issues were fixable, and that Sunday’s performance was not an accurate portrayal of who they are.
“Everything that showed up is so correctable, and we will. We’ll hit it head on, our players are accountable man, they’re ready,” Campbell said. “And nobody takes it worse than they do, so that’s the good news, we got the right dudes.”
But, of course, that’s what a head coach is going to say. I don’t doubt for a second that Campbell believes that, but it remains to be seen if that’s actually true.
