ELK GROVE, Calif. —

Elk Grove High School sent a letter addressed to the families of football players on Sept. 4 after an incident involving student-athletes in the locker room.

The letter doesn't give details about what specifically happened, which has led to speculation online. None of the speculation has been verified as of this writing.

KCRA 3 has confirmed that a deputy with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office was called to the school to file an official report.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said, "based on the known circumstances at this time there is no criminal investigation, we will defer to the school and school district for appropriate action."

KCRA 3 also obtained a copy of the letter from the Elk Grove Unified School District
