If you hit a snarl of traffic heading into Banff, Alta., this summer, you weren't alone.
Banff shattered traffic records once again, with 1.76 million vehicles entering and exiting the mountain town in July and August, according to municipal statistics. That's about 47,000 more than last year.
The popular tourism destination was kept busy, particularly with free entrance to Canada's national parks and the Calgary area being one of the fastest growing regions in the country.

"Last year alone, 100,000 people moved to the [Calgary] area and we're only an hour-and-a-half drive away. Folks want to come into the mountains," Banff Mayor Corrie DiManno said.
