COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Cameron McCarty, a Columbus native and Hardaway High School Alum, proves that dreams formed in Georgia can launch into orbit.

"I've always had a big love for space," McCarty said. "I really enjoyed learning anything I could, I had a big Book of Planets."

McCarty's NASA journey began when his family relocated to Columbus in the 3rd grade after his dad took a job at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center. McCarty says he would attend all the summer space camps, planetarium shows and eventually started working at the Space Science Center part time.
