Colin Jost appears to be staying put on "Saturday Night Live."
The "Weekend Update" anchor's wife, Scarlett Johansson, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that he will be back on "SNL" for the upcoming 51st season.
"He's going back to work," Johansson told the outlet at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Jost's return was in question following a series of "SNL" departures coming off the show's landmark 50th season.
But the cast shake-up that creator Lorne Michaels previously teased may now be over. Reports from Variety and Deadline say that outside of the handful of "SNL" departures that have been revealed in recent weeks, all of the other major stars from Season 50 will be back for Season 51, including Jost's "Weekend Update" co-anchor, Michael Che.
USA TODAY has reached out to NBC for comment.
Jost and Che have served as hosts of "Weekend Update" since 2014. Jost initially stepped in to replace Seth Meyers behind the desk of the satirical news segment that year, and he briefly anchored with Cecily Strong. Later in 2014, the show tapped Che to replace Strong. Che and Jost went on to become the longest-serving "Weekend Update" anchors in "SNL" history.
'Saturday Night Live' firings: Who's out ahead of Season 51?
Devon Walker, Emil Wakim and Michael Longfellow all previously confirmed they are exiting the "SNL" cast. Additionally, multiple outlets have reported that longtime cast member Heidi Gardner is leaving after eight seasons, though she has yet to confirm as much.
But in addition to Jost and Che, other returning stars for "SNL" Season 51 include longtime cast members Chloe Fineman, Bowen Yang and Kenan Thompson, as well as last year's newcomers Jane Wickline and Ashley Padilla, according to Variety and Deadline. Michaels previously confirmed to Puck that James Austin Johnson will return and continue playing President Donald Trump.
With the Season 51 premiere just weeks away, "SNL" recently hired five new cast members, including comedians Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Veronika Slowikowska and Kam Patterson. Ben Marshall, who has been with "SNL" since 2021 as part of the comedy group Please Don't Destroy, is also joining the cast.
The "SNL" season premiere is scheduled for Oct. 4. A host and musical guest haven't been announced.
