To paraphrase the famous writer William Saroyan: “I always knew everyone must die someday, but I thought an exception would be made in my case.” I believe that’s a sentiment we all unconsciously share. If we didn’t, it would be difficult to face each day, especially once we hit, say, age 80. In fact, when we do hit that age or thereabouts, it’s hard to believe we’re actually there. Other people get old, sure, but me, too?
When I was young I couldn’t understand why so many elderly folks couldn’t get around without a walker, a cane or wheelchair. Walking is so easy.
